It will be a sad day when we won’t be able to just drive our cars where we want, how we want (for the most part). I guess the benefits of safety and less traffic congestion outweigh the cons. Even with hardcore camouflage it is easy to see that it is not that different from current models and not that different from A4 and A8. No surprise here as Audi not known for sudden changes. The only difference I could spot is the outline of the lights and they look larger.

The rumor is that there will be three engine choices:

• 2.0-liter Turbo rated at 252 Horsepower the same engine as on current iteration
• 2.9-liter V6 rated at 440 Horsepower the same engine as on Porsche Panamera
• 4.0 liter V8 rated at 550 Horsepower the same engine Audi introduce to Porsche Panamera Turbo this year. This is probably only for RS6 trim

Will that be enough to compete with the current leader in Mid-Size luxury sedan Mercedes-Benz E class? Obviously since you are a fan of Audi A6 you think so and let’s not forget about Quattro which is way better than 4matic.

Assisting a person with Alzheimer’s is very challenging. And with time, simple tasks turn into a real hassle.

This is the reason why we want to give you a detailed guide on how to transport a person with Alzheimer’s by car… the safe way.

• It’s important to prepare your loved one for the ride before even getting into the car. Remember not to overwhelm with a lot of information and inform the person you are both getting into the car. You will need to repeat this information, so be as patient as you can.

• Consider it will take more time than it used to. In order to prevent agitation, you shouldn’t hurry your loved one. So please schedule accordingly.

• Suggest to the person to use the bathroom before leaving the house.

• As a safety measure, make sure the car is clean. No clutter means less opportunity for agitation.

• Getting into the car can also take more time than expected. Once again, be patient and allow the person to get comfortable before you start to drive. Once your loved one is ready, double check that the safety belt is correctly put on.

• It’s also a safety measure to have your loved one seat on the back (of the passenger’s side). This prevents people with Alzheimer’s to grab the steering wheel. Also, it gives them more space. Don’t forget to use the child lock too.

• Do take with you something that can serve as a distraction and prevent agitation though. A snack, photos or even a coffee table book (which are usually filled with big pictures) can serve as entertainment.

• Try to travel with someone else, so you have an extra pair of helping hands during the ride.

• If that’s not possible, always keep in mind that safety comes first. If your loved one becomes agitated, don’t try to act on it while driving. Stop, and then take action.

• Play your loved one’s favorite music to provide a soothing environment.

• Avoid peak hours to reduce stressing stimuli for both of you. Being stuck on traffic is frustrating enough as it is, so do everything you can to avoid it.

• When you’ve reached your destination, be mindful about where you park. Check if there’s enough space to comfortably get out of the car, if there are any slippery spots or any other inconveniences.

To transport a person with Alzheimer’s safely takes time to get used to. Practice these steps and you’ll eventually find what works best for both of you.

In fact, a lot of research has been conducted about senior driving and, as it turns out, seniors drive better than other age groups (mainly teens) because they usually have a lot of years of experience and they respect traffic signs as well as speed limits.

However, we can’t pretend that our bodies don’t change as we age. Research has also shown that senior drivers are frequently injured and harmed in car crashes, basically, because their bodies are more vulnerable. It has been reported that in 2009,  more than 60% of deaths related to traffic accidents involved senior citizens over the age of 70.

We can’t possible see those numbers without wondering what we can do to improve senior driving, and, as a result of this, increase seniors’ chances of independent living.

The reason why seniors are safe drivers is because age isn’t the real concern when it comes to driving – it’s health.

There are a lot of health conditions that increase the risks of driving. Some examples are arthritis, insomnia, and muscle pains. Plus, medication’s side effects can seriously affect one’s driving skills.   

The natural decline of our senses like sight and hearing can impact our driving too. If you or a loved one has issues with this, take them into consideration before driving. Simple changes like avoiding driving when it’s dark or during rush hours go a long way.

As long as the driver is healthy and prepared to follow the rules of the road, he or she will be able to drive.

It’s not always easy to see ourselves changing though. But driving safely regardless of our age should be a priority.

Make an effort and asses your driving skills constantly (or suggest that a loved one does the same). You can do this by searching for driving tests online or –even better– by paying attention to the warning signs. If you’ve gotten traffic tickets recently, felt disoriented, or have had other trouble behind the wheel, don’t be afraid to confront your skills and ask a trusted family member or friend if they too have seen changes in your driving. Don’t let your ego win over your own life and other people’s safety.

Our favorite manufacturer Audi and our favorite four wheel drive – Quattro are going to the moon! I am not talking about your typical Grand Turismo 6 moon rover, I am talking about the real freaking moon. This how good Quattro is!

Audi is working with Berlin based engineering group Part-Time Scientists for the project. The group is actually a part of Google Lunar XPRIZE project they’ve already achieved two milestone prizes in the competition – for which they got $750,000. Google will award $30 million crispy American Dollars to whoever can put a privately (at least 90%) funded robot on the moon. The goal of the project is to “create a new era of affordable access to the Moon and beyond.”

Originally the project started with 34 teams and only 16 groups are still in the running.

Audi Robot’s Goals

• Rover needs to be delivered by 2017
• The robot firstly needs to be delivered to the Moon (we can only speculate how much that would cost. Is Elon Musk reading the blog? Let us know). Scratch that we found out it is 24 million Euros.
• The robot that needs to drive on the Moon’s surface for at least 500 meters
• The robot has to be able to transmit high res video and images

Audi Robot Specs

• Most of the robot is made our high strength aluminium
• Robot’s weight is 77.2 lb or 35 kilograms
• Estimated top speed is 2,2 mph or 3,6 km/h
• Wheels will rotate 360 degree
• There two cameras that simultaneously can produce 3D images

We wish all of the luck to the Rover. One thing we know for sure that they rugged moon services will be nothing to the Quattro system with 360 degrees rotating wheels. If Quattro can survive the streets of Downtown Toronto is in freezing rain – it can can survive in the moon as well.

I don’t know if we mere mortals will benefit from any of that though. Come to think off it gives Audi owner bragging rights as far as I know 4Matic haven’t been to moon yet and nobody would want to take xDrive to it in any case. This whole thing also takes attention away from the emission scandal.

• air inlets
• bumpers
• rear lighting
• exhaust pipe
• and the single frame grille

Interior changes focus on making the Audi A6 a contender in the vehicular technology space.  Some of those improvements include:

• a speech dialogue system allowing the driver to speak text messages, music commands, and phone calls
• blind spot monitoring systems
• adaptive cruise control

The engine roster for the new A6 offers four different options, one FSI engine and three different TFSI options.  The range of horsepower covers a wide breadth from 190 to a whooping 333 HP.  There are actual test drive reviews you can find online.  We aren’t lucky enough yet to get that invitation…

The overall consensus is that the 2015 A6 is a fantastic upgrade on an already fantastic line of cars.  It has been said that the new release of the A6 further blurs the line between the A6 model and the A8 model.  However, with the upgrade in quality of the A6 I don’t think too many people will mind that the model lines are blurring, they’re most certainly blurring in a positive direction.

Though the Audi A6 TDI’s official MPG rating is 67 miles per gallon, the statistics after the fourteen country trek placed the trip’s MPG measurement at over 75mpg.  An impressive feat even for Audi’s most efficient model.
